I knit the exact same way, but the knitted stitches I knit through the front loop rather than the back loop. The fabric must look different if you keep knitting the back loop at every stitch. I have to try this, just to see if there's a huge difference.
Hmmm, I saw the purl video first, and it is done exactly as I do. But, I don't knit this way. My "wrap" is simply my lifting the yarn off of my index finger and the effect is that it is wrapped the other way around. This is "picking" the way Continental knitters do it, it would leave your stitches oriented incorrectly for the purl that you show on the other page. Unless I'm seeing something backwards. :) In Eastern European knitting, all stitches are wrapped clockwas (from the viewpoint of the tip of the needle). It seems to me you are doing this one counterclockwise, but the purl is clockwise. Cheers,
